Round 2! 21 Day Fix Extreme

Yesterday, I started my second round of the 21 Day Fix Extreme.

I’m setting some goals for the next 21 Day:

  • Less modifications
  • Active during the entire minute…
  • Less breaks
  • Focus on my core and flattening my tummy.
  • Be the best person I can be and a great role model for my first accountability group!

During my first round, I was resting way more than I actually need to and my goal this time is to push through no matter what gets in my way. My body is much stronger than my mind thinks it is, just look at the picture of my arm from Friday. I’m still shocked I have some muscle! In case you missed it, Parties, Tattoos and Changes

I really need to push myself and no longer make excuses. I can’t wait to see what this next round has in store for me, and I’m excited to figure out my next step in my fitness journey after this round is complete.

21 Day Fix Extreme Complete!

The before picture is from the very beginning, before a round of 21 Day Fix, and the after is after one round of the 21 Day Fix Extreme.

So much has changed during the past 42 days, way more than I ever could’ve imagined. Not only am I a little lighter, my hair is a little lighter too. 😛 But seriously, I’m mentally and physically stronger and it’s the greatest feeling in the world. I’m so happy I began this journey and this is by far not the end. I plan on another round of the 21 Day Fix Extreme and my new goals for the round will do less modifiers and take less breaks. I’ll continue spinning and do my best to keep up with daily walks to reach my goal of 10,000 steps per day.

Happy Easter!

Parties, Tattoos and Changes

So, my company had a little party outside and just for fun a co-worker started drawing “tattoos” on people. Here’s mine.

After taking the picture, I sent it to my mother to show her what work “did to me…” and after taking another look at the photo on the iMessage screen, my first thought was… damn… Where did that muscle come from!?!?!?!

That muscle was never that defined before in my life. I really have to thank my coach, BeachBody, 21 day fix and the 21 day fix extreme for whipping me into shape. I’m loving all the pluses that come along with making positive changes to your life. 🙂 ❤

Setting Goals… is Tough

I am by no means an expert on any of this, I’m only sharing what I’ve recently come to realize as I work to improve myself. I hope to provide inspiration to those who need it. 🙂

When you’re looking to change your life it’s very important to set GOOD goals for yourself. What I mean by good goals. Goals that are obtainable, realistic and not too easy to reach.

When I started my first round of the 21 day fix, my coach asked the members of my first accountability group to write down some short term and long term goals that each one of us wanted to reach during the first challenge. This task was harder for me than I thought it should be. Initially my goal was to get in shape. But why?!? I didn’t realize until that moment, that during my entire life I never had a real reason.

After giving it lots of thought, I completed the project by writting down my long term and short term goals and posting them for the group to see. I’m so glad I completed the excersize. It forced me to come up with real reasons why I wanted to be in shape and by sharing them I was held accountable to reach them. I’m still working towards my goals, but the real plus is I haven’t given up as I’ve done several times in the past.

Sharing my goals helped me realize that I wanted more than just to look good. I wanted to feel good, I want to be strong, and I don’t want to let anything to get in my way and stop me from being successful.

I’m so thankful for being a part of a group of people who are all working towards a common goal!

Week 2 – 21 Day Fix Extreme – Complete

I know everyone’s probably tired of hearing me talk about this program but I’m too happy with my progress to keep it all to myself!

It works! It really does and it’s so easy to incorporate it into busy lifestyles! I can’t wait to share the after pictures as soon as I complete the third week. 🙂

The second week was much better than my first! I didn’t have the right equipment during the first week but my new resistance bands arrived just in time for this weeks workouts. What a difference that made…

Pilates was a struggle again, but I’ve make great improvements within a week. I did less modifiers, took less breaks and kept up with everyone else. It’s a great feeling to see these improvements.

On to the third week of Extreme! I can’t wait to see the results in the end!

60 Day Accountability Group!

Hi all. I know I’ve posted information on my Hotmess to Hotness group before, but I wanted to remind everyone about the 60 Day accountability group I’m co hosting with my coach.

IMG_6839

Here’s a little bit about the accountability group for those who haven’t heard of it before. It’s a secret Facebook group, where each day Amy or I will post something for the day…a motivational quote, a list of questions, or recipes, etc. The goal is to keep everyone engaged and checking in daily with updates on how their workouts are going.  It’s a fun way to interact, get to know more people, and find others who are on the same journey as you!

I’ve been a part of two groups so far and they’ve kept me on target towards my goal. I wouldn’t have stuck with the life style change if it wasn’t for this group!

If you’re ready to make a change in your life and not just start some fad diet, please reach out!

Round 2 – Plyo Fix Extreme

Happy Monday! I would be wonderful if weekends never ended.

Today, was round 2 of Plyo Fix Extreme. Last week I struggled to find the energy to get up and out of bed, but I still pushed myself to complete the workout. I won’t be able to make improvements without putting forth effort.

After completing a full week of the extreme I was ready to do it again. This time my stresses and worries were gone. Plyo kicked my butt once again, but I saw great improvements over last week.

You’ll never improve unless you put forth your best effort. Something I need to keep reminding myself everyday. 🙂

Week 1 of 21 Day Fix Extreme Complete

Honestly, I was stressed, worried and afraid about starting the 21 Day Fix Extreme program on March 7th, only having done one round of the 21 day fix. I didn’t sleep well the night before and struggled to get out of bed that morning. I was afraid my body wasn’t ready to start this program and I was confidant I was going to fail.

During the ordering process I had to call the Beachbody help line, the guy on the phone was very friendly and helpful, but reminded me this was an advanced program. I was shocked when he said that, I figured he’d be happy I was purchas44df7f851c46aa579b1e2d32f8d9d12eing the next step,  but the tone of his comment worried me. Was I moving on too quickly?

I couldn’t be happier that I pushed through and started the advanced program! Extreme is tough, it’s the hardest workout I’ve ever done, but I feel so awesome for completing my first week!
It amazes me how quickly our body’s change and how much stronger I am today than I was yesterday.

I can’t wait to see what the 2 week of extreme has in store!!! 🙂

The Beginning – Making the Move to a Healthier Lifestyle

IMG_6731First off, I have to say I have always been somewhat fit my entire life and never had a tremendous amount of weight to lose, so I know I will never have a dramatic success story to share with everyone. I also know people will think I’ve had it easy, and I didn’t have any hurdles to overcome. And even though I can’t say I’ve lost a huge amount of weight, I have had my own struggles with my fitness and health. I’m sure others feel the same as I do and are going through some of the same daily struggles.

My goal is to help others change their lives for the better, by openingly sharing my own personal experience and the physical and mental struggles I had to overcome.

Honestly, the past year or so I haven’t been very motivated to get much done. It’s much easier to sit on the couch all day then to put effort into improving my life.

Back in January, I knew I needed to make a change to how I was living my life.  I knew I wasn’t where I wanted to be and I realized I’m the only one who’s going to be able to make the change in my life.

In January, I saw several posts from Amy Leigh Rynhart about her and her husbands success with the 21 Day Fix program, and figured I had nothing to lose, so I reached out to her and she quickly accepted the challenge and became my coach. A short time later, I bought my first challenge pack and joined her accountability group that began February 15th. The group is awesome, we were expected to check in daily and share our food and exercises each day, plus complete any other assignments Amy gave us. 🙂 It’s was very motivational and I wouldn’t have stuck with the program if it wasn’t for this group. Thank you Amy! You’re an awesome coach!

Working out, getting in shape, changing your eating habits and changing your life is never easy, but I’m really glad I put in the effort and made the change. I’m so glad I made the commitment to improve my life.

I know I mention the 21 Day Fix program often and I want to make to known that it isn’t a crash diet but rather a lifestyle change. The main focus of the program is it teaches you about the correct portion sizes and it shows you how much of each food category you should be eating. I never realized just how many carbs I was actually eating everyday until I started the program.

During the first 21 days I had several obstacles to overcome.

  • For one, I really hate working out at home and being an editor, I planned to load the videos on my phone so that the workouts could be done at the gym. I quickly learned I no longer have a working edit station, and didn’t have the time nor patience figure out how to get my old system back up and running. So in the meantime, I decided to deal with my frustrations and just work out at home. I was surprised to find it really isn’t that bad. Each workout is 30 minutes long and working out at home is easier and quicker, it saves the travel time and the packing time spent packing for the gym.
  • The second challenge that took some getting used to was picking meals for the week that fit within my allotted container counts. I used to bake scones, eat frozen waffles or anything else that was quick and easy to grab in the morning. Following the meal plan didn’t allow for this anymore. I didn’t mind the change so much as I always wanted to eat healthier, but I needed something that was quick and easy and took no effort for breakfast. Lucky my challenge pack came with Shakeology. I decided to give it a try and replace breakfast with the shake and I couldn’t be more happier that I did. It’s quick and it’s the heathliest option there is!
  • Third, the workouts on the 21 Day Fix are tough. The first day was Total Body Cardio Fix, and honestly… I was exhausted halfway through the warm up. I couldn’t believe just how out of shape I was and I was really wondering what I got myself into.

During the first round of the 21 Day Fix, I found that my fitness level dramatically increased every week and by the end of the 21 Day Fix, I felt the strongest and most focus than I ever have before. I love the feeling of finally being in control!

tuesday-motivation-031014-feat-630x350On March 7th, my second accountability group with Amy started and I began my first round of 21 Day Fix Extreme. There’s a reason why it’s called extreme… It’s one of the toughest workouts I’ve ever done and it’s only 30 minutes!!!

Check back often to see updates on my progress during my first round of the 21 Day Fix Extreme.

Don’t forget! You could do this too! It takes a lot of effort but it’s so worth it!
